This is an opportunity to acquire a superb modern-pitch Rudall Carte that has been overhauled and repadded ready for sale. The flute has been played lightly, and loved greatly, for the last 50 years by one careful owner.

The flute was made by Alfred Bull in 1926. Bull was one of the rising generation of fine flutemakers who came of age at a time when the senior craftsmen at Rudall Carte included such great names as Henri Schumacher and Eugene Goulliere. Born in Fulham in January 1886, Bull made his first flute at Rudall Carte in June 1906, and would go on to make many more flutes of the highest quality until his last in 1938.

This example of Bull's craftsmanship is elegant and very well put-together. It features a Brossa F sharp, which allows that note to sound without the dulling effect of having also to close the RH3 keycup, and the RH touch operates the thumb as was usual with Rudall Cartes. The headjoint has been adapted to a modern 'Piddock' fitting, and we have made a collar to go over the cork tenon. This headjoint plays very well, and the current owner has been keen to point out just how good it has been for her over so many years.

We recently repadded the flute and overhauled the mechanism, so it plays beautifully. It comes in a modern soft case.
